As an extension to Silicon Valley Directors' Exchange private company board series in 2023, this session will address the economy, financial challenges, and risk management for start-up boards. The last few years have been an economic rollercoaster, and entrepreneurial companies have gone through quite a ride. How have start-up boards addressed issues such as inflation, supply chain issues, and geopolitics? What types of strategies should start-up boards consider for future economic downturns and upswings? And how have recent banking woes impacted the future of how private companies consider their finances?

Join our panel of experts as they continue to demystify the start-up board and discuss how economics and risk management play a significant role in a board member’s fiduciary duties.

The Brennan School of Business will host representatives from the Latino Corporate Directors Association (LCDA) to share research and discuss its robust initiatives to increase Latino representation on Illinois corporate boards.

Diversity on corporate boards is proven to be good for business and, with Latinos numbering nearly 20% of the US population, it makes sense for boardrooms to include Latinos to offer insight into the new mainstream economy. The reality is that for years Latinos have been systematically excluded and bypassed for a seat at the table. The Latino Corporate Directors Association (LCDA), a membership-based organization of US Latinos at the highest level of corporate leadership and corporate governance, was formed to change this reality and increase US Latino representation on corporate boards by raising visibility of the ample Hispanic/Latino talent primed for the boardroom.

Time: 5:30 - 8:30 PM CT
