Six months after the Silicon Valley Bank collapse, the Federal Reserve Office of Inspector General (OIG) issued a report pointing to the mistakes and laxity by supervisory staff at SVB. It points to deficiencies in risk management and supervision as being the root cause of the bank failure. At one point did the SVB board decide that minimal compliance was good enough to manage significant risk? One year later, can we use the SVB failure as a cautionary tale for all public companies?

Why Attend? Hear from our esteemed panel about what lessons public board directors can learn from the SVB failure and why supervision is critically important for the stability of the banking sector.

A substantial increase in regulatory enforcement combined with enhanced compliance requirements has heightened law enforcement scrutiny of boards of directors. This session will not only address the changing scope of director liability, but will also focus on the often forgotten criminal exposure that can result when the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) is involved.  Join this in-person session to hear from our panel of experts about what most directors misunderstand about the expansive scope of the DOJ and what to expect in 2024 and beyond.

Why Attend? Attendees will learn how current law enforcement strategies have adapted as “new” (and “not so new”) issues emerge - including the unintended consequences of applied AI, the use of blockchain, immigration matters, and more.  The session will also forecast what might or might not change at the various three letter federal agencies with or without a new administration.

Disruptive technologies are not a new concept for Silicon Valley companies and beyond. However, the increase in use of artificial intelligence, blockchain, autonomous tools, and potentially unknown technologies that are around the corner (for example, how adept are you at quantum computing?) translates to a more complex world. The rate in which these technologies are being unleashed is much quicker than we have ever experienced. How are board directors staying current on industry trends, emerging technologies, and your own company’s innovation? And do you have the appropriate resources to manage technology disruption on a completely new scale?

Why Attend? Hear from industry experts who are working on the front line of understanding and implementing the use of new technologies and how board directors can stay on top of the most relevant issues.
