Dear LCDA Community,
This year marks a momentous occasion as we celebrate the 10-year anniversary of LCDA. We are eagerly looking forward to gathering our esteemed members, partners, and allies at the 8th Annual Board Leaders Convening in Plano, TX, to commemorate LCDA's achievements. I am incredibly proud of the work we have accomplished - uniting highly accomplished Latino executives, driving transformative initiatives, and nurturing the next wave of Latino directors. Our ability to be transformative is due to an incredibly committed team – Carmen, Pilar, Wendy, Monique, Juan, Elizabeth, Tracy Michelle, Luis, Lisa, Dante, Larell, Justin, Nicole, Bianca, and Chelsea.
Over the past decade, LCDA has flourished, with our membership exceeding 500 and our influence extending to board placements for Latinos in Fortune 500 companies, surpassing 4% in board seat representation. While this progress is a testament to our dedication, we must remain vigilant. The recent Missing Pieces report by the Alliance for Board Diversity unveiled concerning data regarding the projected representation of Latinos in Fortune 500 companies:
- Despite constituting nearly 20% of the population, Latinos face slow and uneven progress in board representation.
-
Currently, at 4.7%, Latinos are the least represented among all racial and ethnic groups, and this trend is predicted to persist until 2060, reaching only 9.2%. In contrast, African American/Black projection stands at 25.5%, and Asian/Pacific Islander projection at 14.7%.
These figures speak volumes, highlighting the financial risks companies bear when they lack the valuable Latino perspective.
LCDA, in collaboration with its affiliated foundation, the Latino Corporate Directors Education Foundation (LCDEF), is committed to being a part of the solution. Through the BoardReady Institute (BRI), we are expediting the preparation, development, and placement of highly accomplished Latinos in top-level corporate governance. This year alone, our foundation, with generous support from Wells Fargo and KPMG US, has board certified 50+ leaders and counting.
Additionally, LCDA's Talent Services is playing a crucial role in bridging network gaps, influencing the candidate pool, and elevating Latino talent poised for the boardroom. Join us as we celebrate a decade of empowering the voices of Latino leaders on boards across America.
¡Muchísimas gracias por su apoyo y hasta pronto! |
