Greetings LCDA Familia,
There is ample Latino talent for the boardroom, as demonstrated by our growing membership. LCDA Membership doubled over the last three years! LCDA recently welcomed its largest cohort of 80+ members. Executive Members and the BoardReady Institute (BRI) are our vehicles for preparing and positioning Latino talent for the boardroom.
To keep pace with demand, starting this year, we are offering two BRI sessions. This May, in New York City, we proudly launched our first Spring BRI programming, in partnership with Goldman Sachs, featuring a fireside chat with Goldman Sachs Chairman and CEO, David M. Solomon, and Chief Diversity Officer, Managing Director, Megan Hogan.
Edelman hosted our Welcome Reception Mixer where LCDA Board Chair, Elizabeth Oliver-Farrow, and Edelman Managing Partner & CEO and Financial Communications, Lex Suvanto, welcomed LCDA members as they arrived in NYC for Spring BRI.
Over the course of two days, highly credentialed BRI participants took part in comprehensive board readiness programming, further preparing them for boardroom excellence. We heard from over 20 seasoned Latino directors, thought leaders in corporate governance, and board placement influencers.
Some of our featured speakers included:
Nicole Agnew, Head of Consumer Private Equity Investing, Partner, Goldman Sachs
Victor Arias, Managing Director, Diversified Search Group
Bernhard Scholl, Partner - Head of Chemical Practice / Managing Partner Miami, Egon Zehnder
James Socas, Managing Director, Blackstone
Lyndon Taylor, Regional Managing Partner, North American CEO & Board Practice, Heidrick & Struggles
Ilana Wolfe, Head of Corporate Board Engagement, Goldman Sachs
Sam Wolf, Executive Vice President, Corporate Reputation, Edelman
On behalf of the entire LCDEF and LCDA teams, thank you to our Spring BRI Host, Goldman Sachs, attendees, and speakers, who made Spring BRI a resounding success!

Boardwise Virtual — Update on the State of Latino Board Representation
Recent reports from LCDA and KPMG revealed that, as of June 30, 2021, Latinos make up 3.7% of Fortune 1000 board seats, a .5% increase since 2020, one of the largest seen since LCDA started tracking Latinos on the F1000. Progress is happening but it is slow and, at this growth rate, it will take more than 30 more years for Latinos to achieve F1000 board representation equal to their current national population size. Kathy Jurado Munoz, VP Demand and Advocacy LCDA
|
|
Helping LCDA grow and move the needle on Latino board placements is Vice President of Demand & Advocacy, Kathy Jurado Munoz. Kathy joined LCDA at a pivotal time in its growth. Since then, she has been instrumental in building the foundation for our demand strategy, advocating for change in California, and launching the Latino Voices for Boardroom Equity coalition. As she leaves LCDA to retire and start another chapter of her life with her family, we know that her contributions will live on and thrive as we build on the impact she leaves behind. LCDA is grateful to Kathy and knows that it’s now goodbye, but thank you and adelante together!

We're honored to partner with Out Leadership during Pride month and beyond. Last year, we conducted extensive research into the state of minority representation and what can be done to move the needle toward more inclusive Boards.
Here's what we found:
- By any measure, Latinos are the least represented racial and ethnic group in the nation’s boardrooms
- Similarly, over a five year period, openly LGBTQ+ representation on Boards only increased from 10 to 25, (Source: Visibility Counts: The LGBTQ+ Board Opportunity) representing an alarmingly low 0.2% of all Board seats. Compare this to the latest Gallup poll that estimates that 5.6% of Americans identify as LGBTQ+
Hear from Esther Aguilera, CEO, Latino Corporate Directors Association (LCDA) and Todd Sears, Founder & CEO of Out Leadership, with research from Quorum, Out Leadership’s LGBTQ+ Board Leadership initiative, on the four of the most damaging myths on minority Board representation. >READ MORE

LCDA is a prominent player and resource to entities that influence board placement.
"Though the share of seats going to Black directors remained near last year’s record high, Asian or Asian American and Hispanic or Latinx representation has not improved over the past 13 years. The fact that the Hispanic or Latinxcommunity represents 19% of the US population and the Asian or Asian American community is the fastest growing over the longer term indicates just how much more work needs to be done to move toward equitable representation."
