February 2022
Greetings LCDA Familia,
As we progress in the new year, LCDA is primed to continue moving the needle by serving as an advocate and a resource for board placement.
In 2020, nine leading Latino business and consumer organizations launched Latino Voices for Boardroom Equity (LVBE), a coalition assembled to engage public companies lacking Latinos on the board. The Latino Voices initiative’s primary goal will be to triple latino representation on public company boards by 2023. Through LCDA’s publication of a quarterly scorecard and partners' support, the Latino Voices for Boardroom Equity initiative has proven effective at increasing Hispanic/ Latino board diversity.
We thank our partners, United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (USHCC), Association of Latino Professionals for America (ALPFA), Latino Donor Collaborative (LDC), Hispanic Alliance for Career Enhancement (HACE), The League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC), Unidos US, Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund (MALDEF) and National Hispanic Media Coalition (NHMC) for supporting the Latino Voices for Boardroom Equity initiative, strengthening the assertion that diversity without the inclusion of Latinos is not acceptable.
We look forward to continued US Latino boardroom advancement in 2022. We thank LCDA's members and partners for their support, which has allowed for significant accomplishments in moving the needle forward.
Esther Aguilera President and CEO
Meet the Partners:
Nine leading Latino business and consumer organizations launched Latino Voices to send a message that having Latinos at the table is a business imperative. Latinos are the largest minority in the nation, but the most underrepresented on public company boards of directors. We are united in a mission to open boardroom doors to our community, a critical step in achieving equity for Latinos in corporate America. Our Mission: The Latino Voices initiative is reaching out to corporations with the following goals:
Why it Matters: The US Latino community is the nation's largest ethnic group, yet at 3.2% of Fortune 1000 seats held by a US Latino, we are vastly underrepresented in corporate boardrooms.
Exclusive Research:
Congratulations to LCDA Members for their board appointments! LCDA members continue being at the forefront of Latino board seat holders in Fortune 1000 companies.

LCDA CEO, Esther Aguilera recently participated in LCDA Partner, CNBC's Equity and Opportunity Forum, a unique opportunity to learn from leaders who are paving the way to create meaningful change not only for their workplace, but society as a whole.
Moderated by CNBC's Sharon Epperson, joined with some of the most influential advocacy organizations, Cid Wilson, Linda Akutagawa, and Tonie Leatherberry to discuss the strides and efforts companies and organizations have made in recent years to increase diversity for all stakeholders and their sense of progress and the challenges that may stand in the way of growth.
USA Today: While the number of women directors has increased, companies have not added racial and ethnic minorities at the same pace.
Just 3.5% of new directors added to public company boards in California were Latino or Hispanic as of June 2021, 10% were Black or African American and 18% were Asian, according to the Latino Corporate Directors Association.
Overall, Latinos held 2.5% of board seats in the state. The vast majority of the boards – 83% – had no Latino or Hispanic directors, the study found. Latinos and Hispanics make up 39.4% of California’s population and are the state’s largest ethnic group. >READ MORE LCDA is proud to partner with Out Leadership in advancing diversity and inclusion.
