December 2021
Greetings LCDA Familia,
As we wrap-up 2021, LCDA’s impact has been far-reaching. We influenced a historic 4X increase in Latino public company board appointments and continue to lead with talent—doubling our membership and welcoming our largest cohort of Latino Aspiring Directors for the Fall LCDEF BRI program.
We’re especially grateful to our network of Partners and Sponsors, including KPMG, TPG, Bank of America, and many others, whose support helps to advance our mission and move the needle to increase the number of US Latinos on corporate boards.
LCDA has reached a new level of awareness through our research, social media channels, and increased coverage by tier-one news outlets. We produced a NEW first-of-its-kind report - tracking US public company board performance, The Latino Board Monitor, revealing Latinos are absent from 69% of Fortune 1000 boards; Sounding the Alarm Bell: Latino Board Trends 2010-2020; Quarterly California Boardroom Equity Scorecards; and in collaboration with key partners, we commissioned the 2021 Perception About Latinos in America Report.
Our 6th Annual Board Leaders Virtual Convening, The Future of Governance - The Ascent of ESG, hosted by TPG, a leading global alternative asset firm, was a resounding success. We explored ESG’s financial impact, market impact, consumer and corporation trust, and the latest trends. Additionally, we hosted a special fireside chat with LCDA’s Distinguished Director of the Year, Enrique “Rick” Hernandez, Chief Executive and Chairman of Inter-Con Security Systems, Inc., and heard from top industry leaders such as Oscar Munoz, Former CEO United Airlines Holdings, Hayden Brown, CEO of Upwork, Enrique Lores CEO, HP Inc., and Jessica Alba, Founder and Chief Creative Officer, The Honest Company.
Through our progress, we’re primed for a successful new year with even stronger partnerships, advocacy, and a dynamic membership. As we look forward to our advanced growth in 2022, we thank you for your continued support and commitment to our work. Wishing you Happy Holidays and a safe and healthy start to the New Year, Esther Aguilera President and CEO We thank you for your outstanding support and leadership in stewarding the remarkable growth of LCDA and LCDEF over the years!
