"Serving on The Board of a Federal Home Loan Bank"

Tuesday, April 7, 2020, 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM ET

Moderator:
Esther Aguilera, President & CEO, Latino Corporate Directors Association (LCDA)

Panelists:
John K. Reinke, Chair, Federal Home Loan Bank of Chicago
Dan Siciliano, Chair, Federal Home Loan Bank of San Francisco and LCDA Member
Richard A. Whaley, Chair, Council of Federal Home Loan Banks

The Federal Home Loan Bank (FHLB) system comprises 11, government-sponsored banking cooperatives. Local financial institutions join the FHLBs to borrow money so they can provide home loans and community credit. Given the situation our nation and the world is in today, serving on a FHLB bank and stewarding such valuable resources is crucial. Representation on the banks’ boards, however, has been mostly White and male. Some progress has been made, but after much effort to push for disclosure and diversity overall on the FHLB boards, women and minorities remain woefully underrepresented. Join us and learn more about what FHLBs look for when considering candidates for board service.
